WASHINGTON, D.C. — International Human Rights Advocates (IHRA) today filed a petition with the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (UNWGAD) on behalf of Cornelius Fonya, from the Republic of Cameroon, who was sentenced, in violation of well-established international law, to nine years’ imprisonment for consensual same-sex relations.
